When a television show first starts, the writers of the program already have the star in mind. They write for the characters they think the audience will relate to and like the most and design the show around those characters. However, once the show hits the airwaves, the viewers don’t always agree. Sometimes the true star of the show is the unlikeliest candidate. The breakout character is usually a character who was introduced as part of the supporting cast, but for one reason or another became a fan favorite.

The characters in the movie were irreverent, and ant-war, but they were not “holier than thou.” They were funny. The TV show, not so much. Can you imagine Alda today pontificating on the Chinese immigrants who just wanted a better life in South Korea?

Or who ended up much bigger than was intended. Usually because of the acting.

If I had to pick a breakout character from 'The Dukes of Hazzard', it would be Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane. Everything he said and did was a hoot.

As a kid of the 70s, I wanted to be The Fonz.

In fact, I had all the kids in the neighborhood calling me The Fonz, and I’m female...

but, I was one hell of a tomboy. I pummeled quite a few boys in my youth(2nd thru 6th grade).

Wow.

They were going to off Captain Cook?

On the BB curve, I loved Saul Goodman.

Better Call Saul was the last and only show I watched

faithfully before I cut the cable.
