This is the teeny tiny tip of the iceberg as to what is going on. I have always hoped someone would step forward and back me up so I could open up. It has never happened.

The DC area is like a fascist state. As such Conservatives have to fake being liberals to survive if they are FedGov employees. The workers who are Conservatives have to maintain their cover like covert agents in a foreign land. DC is not the land of the free.

I know there are conservatives who work in government in the same way there are conservatives who live in California, Massachusetts, and Maryland, so I always keep that in mind when criticizing government workers.

My issue as a conservative is not that someone works for the goverment, but my issue is instead the sheer bloated number of people who work for the bloated government, and the government employee unions that they belong to.

As a retired Federal Agent, I say the original post of "Almost ALL" premise is BS. In reality and my personal experience, "Almost ALL" LEOs are Conservative by nature.

Yes, Federal Workers have so called "Unions". Their contracts always were the same as what they are entitled to under Federal Law. The Unions call for (D) votes, but as with many Unions, the rank and file sometimes vote (R).

Most of the ire people have for the Government s/b directed @ the overall programs and related appropriations for items totally unrelated to governing and the Constitutional responsibilities of the President and Congress. (E.G. National Endowment for the Arts, PBS etc. If they were of values, the "Patrons" would support those functions or advertise through them. Planned Parenthood Federal Funds are tax money used to kill Americans and some of the $ is recycled through PACs to the Progressive (D), the true foe of Democracy. That is where the (D) Politics and waste really enters.)

By generalizing without valid statistics, many supporters of Conservatism may be alienated.

I don't belong to the Federal Employees Union and never have. Everyone who works on Fort Hood knows where I stand politically ... there are enough bumper stickers on my car to make that clear (the most prominent ones reading: "Democrats are National Socialists" and "ANTIFA: The New Leftist Sturmabteilung"). I have an autographed portrait of Ronald Reagan prominently displayed on the wall of my office, which I received years ago while I was in the military, on leave, and working at a Reagan campaign stop.

The Union Rep for my directorate has always refused to enter my office because of that portrait, preferring to deal with me over the phone or by email. Any time that she had to approach me for face-to-face office business, she would always stand outside the room and talk to me through the doorway.

So there is that benefit to being a recognized NRA-lifetime member and an anti-progressive/liberal/commie Conservative ...

Makes sense, conservatives are opposed to big government, so big government employees are threatened.

Yes I'm a postal worker and a union member, but I'm conservative. Some of my fellow employees are too. One time my union's magazine urged a vote for Kerry over W, IIRC, and (we had the war on terror going on) it was said "don't let arguments about national security sway you to vote Republican..."

This union originally endorsed Bernie in '16.

Postal News, 2015:
>>“Yet, the Postal Service is under constant and vicious attack,” he said. “As a matter of fact, the same billionaires who want to privatize Social Security, Medicare, and public education, also want to privatize the Postal Service." “Why is that?” Sanders asked. “The answer is simple. The wealthy and the powerful see an opportunity for Wall Street and corporate America to make billions in profits out of these services, and couldn’t care less how privatization or a degradation of services affects ordinary Americans. That is unacceptable and we cannot let them get away with that.”

It would be interesting to know just how many fed employees were replaced and new positions created and filled in the 8 years of obama.

I also wonder if maybe leftists have been burrowing into fedgov for decades like they’ve done with education.

90% + in fedgov
90% + in major city gov
96% + in higher edu
96% + in msm
maybe 60% in public primary edu
94% + in entertainment
96% + in tech

50% +- of voters

I don’t see how we win. Next time we have a dem prez and both houses, say hello to socialism and onward to communism since they’re all power hungry crooks. The only thing that might save us is if President Trump gets to choose two more SC Justices.

I always wonder if it doesn’t have a lot to do with public service unions, which I think should not be allowed.

The author is exactly correct. I worked as a contractor for the DOE for over 30 years. My experience is that almost every management or office type federal employee was liberal and VERY anti conservative. They truly hate Republicans. Almost everyone of the field teams (I mean bomb techs, field trainers and people who have dangerous jobs) are conservative and have almost to a person been in the military. Our people putting together work proposals had to be very careful to not appear conservative. If they screwed up their work and proposal would be sent to the Libs at the Pacific Northwest National lab. Those lying Bastards and the Deloitte Dicks were always the libs best friends.

I noticed much the same thing - retired 4 years ago so shouldn’t have to worry. But, there are also a lot who, like you are conservative and they get caught up in the generalization. During my career I managed to fire 2 and it was a long, uphill battle to make it happen....shortly thereafter, i had a higher ranking lib civilian trying to get me fired and I pulled a “Trump” on him by forwarding a lot of his emails to my home computer for safe keeping and to my unit commander asking for relief from the guy’s spiteful attacks...made for some angst my last year but made retirement so much sweeter.

I know of what you speak, albeit from the periphery. In the past I have worked in programs involving NOAA, MDA and DOD officials. NOAA is the worst of them. Heavy handed, condescending, hateful and snobbish towards We, the People.

My brother in law was until about a year ago a deputy director of a govt agency. He is conservative and he said he was one in a million.

Conservatives believe in smaller government.

Smaller government means less opportunity, fewer promotions, less pay and smaller pensions for bureaucrats.

Our interests are diametrically opposed.

I’ve worked for the DOD for the past 20 years, this isn’t true in the least at least within DOD.

It’s 70/30 conservative there and that may be generous on the 30 side of the equation.

Sweeping generalizations DO NOT help our case here.

My Wife’s Stepbrother works for the Commerce Department, a Career Employee. He hated POTUS Trump before the Shutdown.

I can only imagine how much his hatred has grown since I’m 1000% sure he blames him alone for the Shutdown.

He has lived all over the world in Government provided Housing and Per Diem. I’ll bet he has banked most of his Salary all these Years and he will be retiring young with a nice Pension.

Nice guy and smart as a whip, but a Liberal to his core.

The term “Public Servant” is never used anymore, just as the term “the Loyal Opposition” is only used when the Democrats are out of power.

Remember, reaching across the aisle has always been a one way Street, and we all know which direction it goes.

Liberals love to say “Vote in your Self Interest” which of course is the exact reason that Direct Democracy is so dangerous.

When I Vote, I Vote for the Nation’s Interest, as I think most Conservatives do.
