Definitely not the case.
The A-10 has 11 external hardpoints on which it carries a large variety of munitions: unguided bombs & rockets, precision-guided bombs, and several air-to-ground missiles.
The gun is actually the shortest-range, least-effective weapon system it is equipped with: even unguided rockets outrange the gun by a factor of eight. And the gun carries only enough ammunition for about five two-second bursts. The penetrating power of 30mm armor-piercing projectiles decreases as the range increases; this does not happen with bombs, rockets, or missiles because they carry a warhead, which detonates with the same force regardless of range.
