The most commonly used letters in English “text” according to the Oxford Dictionary are:

E T A I N O S

but for puzzles and word games, the most commonly used letters in “spoken” English are:

E A R I O T N S

When you are stumped, go back and find the “E” which is usually the letter used the most. “T” usually follows.
