I saw "2036 Origin Unknown" on Netflix last night. Big mistake! It was easily the WORST Sci-Fi movie of 2018. In fact, it might just be the WORST movie of any genre of the year.
Boring as hell with confusing dialogue and cheap sets. In fact, it basically took place in one dark depressing room. On top of that it had elements that were a flat out RIPOFF of "2001: A Space Odyssey." Yeah, it had a black monolith on Mars. Gee, where have we seen that before? And they also had a HAL ripoff to the extent of their AI also spying on the speech patterns of two humans.
I kept expecting the movie to go somewhere but it never did.
Anyone out else out there see this travesty? If you made it to the end, I feel sorry for you. My excuse for sticking with it was that I was drunk on wine. At least it helped to kill the pain of watching it.
Go see Holmes & Watson.
I couldn’t get past half of it before I had to stop.
The characters were lame, stupid, and it was a ripoff and a bad one at that of other sci-fi.
The blonde character was just like the chick she plays in “Longmire” (overly emotional, reckless, annoying).
Ughhh!
I haven’t watched enough to really know but it just struck me that there are almost no good movies being made now. Sci-Fi or not.
Probably the best ever was the original Star Wars. That franchise sure has gone down hill tho.
Katie Sackoff is going under for the third time with this stinker. Not much of a career but it's over now.
Anyone see “MANOS: The Hands of Fate”?
Tough decision. All bad.
The worst one I have ever seen, at least that they spent money on making was “Andromeda Strain”.
The world ended and I was happy because it meant the movie also ended.
Only the MST3K version.
"Come to me Tom Servo. I am the magnet and you are steel!"
"You look like Maude."
I watched the whole thing mostly because I am a fan of Katee Sackhoff as Starbucks in Battlestar Galactica. She must be getting typecast as this character is a Katee clone. The writing on 2036 was ho-hum.
Things happen, though. Remember Susan Ivanova from Babylon 5?
Claudia Christian went on to make a stinker sci-fi piece every bit as bereft of production values as 2036 and horrible acting. Her significant talents are being wasted.
Watched it this morning. Butt awful.
Starbuck has slipped
Plan 9 from outer space
One thing that made me laugh is that a Chinese satellite also made it to Mars orbit so what happens was the United Planetary satellite shoots it down. Why? And why would such a satellite even have such weaponry? A completely ridiculous waste of space and resources aboard the satellite. Oh, and the depiction of the Chinese satellite was completely chintzy.
made for TV movie?
There is a ten-episode sy-fy series coming out called Nightflyers that merits a look. Especially if you like Gretchen Moll. I paid extra to stream the whole season and it was worth it.

Yeah it was bad. I gave it a half hour. Id rather watch paint dry.
Yeah, but the chick is hot.
I saw it a week or two ago and if this thread hadn’t been started, I would never have thought of it again. The memory wipe was almost complete.
