I would like to see the Rose Parade in person sometime. If it’s in the 40’s and sunny, seems like that would be tolerable. I mean, what do they think people at FB stadiums do to survive?
Suggestion: be sure to sit on the south side of Colorado Blvd. Most floats are designed to be orientated in that direction.
Also, be as close to the parade start as possible. A few miles down the route and the entertainers look pooped.
Since you have to arrive and find parking before dawn, that is the cold part. Its so doable if youre from a colder clime. If youre from here, its freezing, though down and mittens and snow boots will keep you warm. Its very fun to do and one day I want to do it again. The floats are absolutely AMAZING with the naked eye. No photo or best tv does it service.

Ha. You have to camp overnight to do that. You’re sitting on lawn chairs or concrete for hours, it’s absolutely freezing. You aren’t going to get any sleep. The floats look smaller in person than on tv, at least to me. It kinda has a party atmosphere, if you threw a party on an ice flow.
If you’re not young & dumb you’d want to go the grandstand route. Not sure what that would cost but it would be the best way to see the parade in person.
Come see it. What makes it colder is sleeping on the sidewalks all night. If you get seats (Orange Grove @ Colorado Blvd where it turns) it is wonderful. They have porta-potties right there, food and drink too. The bands and horses are my favorites. We used do live a few blocks south and walk up at 8 am after a warm night in bed.
When I was a kid, my Mom took us every year to spend the night. Never again!
It’s 60’s sunny.
Gets cold at night, so it’s still cold in the morning, I guess maybe 50’s during the parade.
