If you can swing it get Parade and Rose Bowl tickets. You won’t regret going to the game.

I recall a very light dusting of snow in Florida one year, my brother shared people weren’t accustomed to driving on slippery roads and they were going into the ditches everywhere!

The year I stayed in Florida, I was amazed at how cold it got during the winter months. It's so sufferingly hot there during the summer, you'd never think it could ever get cold.

As some have added, “move, leave”!

But I cannot understand anyone willing to endure humidity or snow. NEVER!!!

Lived in the city of Downey for 36 years, So. Californians have no idea what cold is.
Out on my front porch right now it is 14 degrees F.
Today at about 2 pm it was a beautiful, positively tropical 25 degrees, worked outside all day today in nothing more than a wind breaker.
Have to head back down to So. Cal. on Thursday, expect it will be what I call T shirt weather.
You folks down there just make me chuckle.

I agree. There is so much excitement at the Rose Bowl games. My parents were lifelong Bruin season ticket holders and went to all the games (yes, there were times the bruins made the Rose bowl).

I lived in SoCal for 20 years and clearly remember frozen pipes in Corona.

Come see it. What makes it colder is sleeping on the sidewalks all night. If you get seats (Orange Grove @ Colorado Blvd where it turns) it is wonderful. They have porta-potties right there, food and drink too. The bands and horses are my favorites. We used do live a few blocks south and walk up at 8 am after a warm night in bed.

When I was a kid, my Mom took us every year to spend the night. Never again!

Yes, we are spoiled. However, if you spend the night on the sidewalk in 20-30 degree weather, you will find it cold indeed. When I first moved to LA from the eastern Sierras, I was colder that winter than I had ever been in the mountains. The ocean dampness makes it very cold.

That’s true. Same or worse in San Francisco. 50 F in SF does feel colder than 50 in, say, Nebraska, because the fog makes it a damp 50.

As far as I’m concerned, football in the winter should require sub freezing temps and lots of snow........and open fields, not indoors under domes.

Exactly. How else would Eagles fans be able to throw snowballs at Santa?

The first Rose Parade that was broadcast in color was in 1954. I saw it at a neighbor’s house who had a color TV on loan from RCA (he had worked on its design).

Sounds fun. Yeah, I’m too old to sleep on the sidewalk and be able to move the next day!

Nobody in their right mind sleeps on the sidewalk. You need a thermos full of brandy or something. Last time we did, as kids, a crazy lady set up near us. (There are many more on the streets now). She started screaming so my sister and I screamed even louder. It worked. She moved.

Yes, Pelham, I’m with you. All of the above. IF you know someone with a store along the way and can sleep there and watch from there, maybe. We walked north 6 blocks at 8 am when we lived local and caught the parade as it passed by. Slept warm. Drank coffee in our PJs. Walked up and watched. Walked home. Cozy once again.
