I will fully admit I found Airplane, Animal House, and the various other National Lampoon and Monty Python films to be side splitting hilarious in their day and age. Yet as I have grown older, I have come to appreciate a subtle comedy over the pie in the face variety.
“Ill throw in Caddyshack and Animal House. < I sure agree with Animal House. Lots of great quotes came from that movie. It was #47 on the list. According to the article, iAnimal House wasn’t higher because it wasn’t very popular with female critics. I wonder why.”
I went to college as an undergraduate from 1961 to 1965 at a major midwestern university and was a member of a fraternity all that time. I howled with total pleasure throughout the entire movie, since it encapsulated four years of wonderful, insane, gross silliness in just 90 minutes. The greatest scene was the drive in scene which immediately reminded me of the “Tale of the Girl With the Golden Arm” from my college days. Indeed, when I saw the scene, I screamed, “the girl with the Golden Arm!” Now, there ought to be somebody here who can correctly guess where I went to college.
