Wasteland was king in the early nineties. Fallout has been devolving with every iteration. Just like the elder scrolls. Daggerfall (elder scrolls 2) was absolutely epic in 1996. To this day RPGs have not matched its scope or content. Every iteration since then from morrowind to oblivion to skyrim has been smaller and smaller. The graphics are epic with modern engines, but the content has been so dumbed down that it is an empty shell of what it once was 23 years ago. It is very sad

Yes! Daggerfall was a huge and complex game. It had Minecraft-level graphics (which were inmpressive back then), but the sheer size of the world and level of detail of story and lore has indeed been left in the past.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is the closest thing lately to match that charm. Fantastic game that took weeks for me to get through.
