Teams continue to search for someone who cares what Jim Carrey says.

Somehow,I ended up listening to him at some event the other day. He’s been boasting about having gone off of all of his psych meds. Time to revisit that decision.

I have heard, not confirmed, that he is schizophrenic. That is a serious diagnosis. It’s a thought disorder, as opposed to depression, which is a mood disorder. Some can be managed on meds, but you’re not going to get normalcy. The person will remain “odd” or “quirky” at best. Hallucinations and delusions are part of the syndrome.

So this woman was trying to ask typical interview questions of Carrey, whose appearance and affect were strange. When he did respond, it was mostly gibberish. Ideas that didn’t hang together, sentences that made zero sense, again, consistent with schizophrenia. One example, he started yammering on about how he wasn’t there. Then he tried to convince the interviewer that she wasn’t there either. That kind of thing.

Is it just his shtick? Take a look at his “art” before you decide.

Bipolar is more likely. ADHD too. Carrey played a character who was schizophrenic.

Mania or hyperactivity can affect one's thoughts, too. Schizophrenics find it much harder to function in the world.
