It would probably make more sense to date the start of the year from either the winter solstice or the spring equinox.

Easter is tied to the spring equinox.

Sort of.

In 325AD the Council of Nicaea established that Easter would be held on the first Sunday after the first Full Moon occurring on or after the vernal equinox.
