I looked up this claim and found a few links, most notably this one from ZDNet: https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-edge-what-went-wrong-whats-next/

It is a little surprising considering the “push” for phone and tablet integration in this latest major update snafu which has been causing considerable difficulties for many people for the last two months. It could be a last hurrah. But I would not count on this being a certainty about where this is going.

As I said in my previous post, Microsoft is a huge corporation where one hand often does not know what the other hand is doing. The leadership of Microsoft under Satya Nadella feels disharmonious as compared to generations past. This is at least partially because he appears to be a closet conservative in an industry where flaming liberals rule the roost. But Microsoft has a long history and tradition of hostility, infighting, and backstabbing at the leadership level.
