Lots of students get out of colleges, if they make it that far, and believe themselves to be saviors of tribal peoples. This guy was over the top in not preparing nor planning, and a huge inability to understand anything much about this tribe. It is not enough to want to do something...you better have at least a basic understanding of what you're getting yourself into...he didn't.

I’m not so sure if they are in impose mode...but more of a validate to themselves that what they believe is actually true. They are trying to rid themselves of the cognitive dissonance over the reality of the world and their lives of fantasy.
