Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is basically a kind of chat room that uses a program (mIRC) or browser add-on(Chatzilla). It’s old technology.

back in the day, we used mIRC to raid MSNBC chat. Had as many mIRC chats open as the PC could stand.

While all you good folks here @ FR were out Freeping.
a bunch of us rough riders were raiding and if enough people got into a chat room, MSNBC would open another.

There weren’t many of us conservatives but our hit & run tactics basically were a game of leap frog. This was in the days of Soledad O’Brien\John Gibson.

They would interact with the chat room live and sometimes take our questions. It was a badge of honor for a conservative to get picked.

mIRC was trialware...nobody paid for it and there were millions of downloads.
One lady purchased mIRC and that purchase became a legend on the WWW.
