Ryan Stanush, 28, remains behind bars. Hes accused of beating his girlfriend so badly, she ended up in the hospital without a pulse and bleeding internally. "Mr. Stanush stated that the injuries occurred while they were having consensual rough sex, says Lt. Jeff Shook from Converse Police Department... "We do see a lot of domestic violence during the holidays, Lt. Shook says. Locally, the past few years weve seen deaths from domestic violence on a steady rise. Nationwide, the National Domestic Violence Hotline reports calls are up 40% this year. Extra counselors are manning the phones this holiday season, expecting a surge in calls. "There's been a lot of consumption of alcohol and drugs during the time that families spend together. And of course, alcohol and drugs do not cause the abuse, but it definitely heightens it, says Wilmarie Santos, a bilingual advocate for the hotline.

Stay home and away from family.
Stay away from addicts and alcoholics
Police and doctors didnt buy the excuse. Stanush later admitted to hitting and choking the victim, according to his arrest affidavit.
He tried.
I used to work at a courthouse and these scum almost ALWAYS blame the victim and mostry to find an opportunity to charm the people helping the victim.
Stupid: we had the (horrible, sickening) photos.
He took her to the hospital instead of burying her in the backyard at least.
Stop with your common sense. You might trigger someone.
Oh yes they do, you are right. Where I worked some POS thought he was going to get away with victimizing his mom. Office full of women who are not his mom so none of us thought the sun rose and set on him, so no, sorry.
There was recently a local case where everyone suspected a gal had been shoved out of a moving vehicle by her boyfriend, who had a history of domestic abuse. While still in her hospital bed, she tried to cover for him and claimed she had been reaching for something and “it went wrong.”
The guy’s family went to the media and outright lied (he’s an ANGEL of course) that he had no history of violent behavior despite his record being public.
When Clinton was raping women, *he* never killed anyone. /s
Lol! Id like to think he learned a lesson, but he probably managed to blame all of you.
Yes, abusers are always right and to them being right justifies what they do. And it is passed along in families, possibly in the case you mentioned. He was probably just like his dad, and moms reality was one of abuse.
I left that office several years ago and at that time elderly abuse was on the rise, usually sons or grandsons wanting drug money.
HEARTBREAKING.
To see elderly grandparents beaten and crying (crying was harder to see from the grandfathers.) because those grandparents love those sons and grandsons ... it was so hard to see....
The office I worked in tried hard to be fair and refused cases all the time because the complainant (vast majority of all were female) was not trustworthy or didnt have evidence.
Wow.
But not uncommon.
Shes probably afraid for her life.
Abusers want control, period.
One of our clients husband got out of prison and went straight to her home and killed her, then stayed in the apartment parking lot and waited for suicide-by-cop.
Abusers are cowards.
Ah, yes, the old “rough sex” excuse. Shoot him.
I thought it was I didnt inhale ?
Oh wait thats in Addition too...
It depends what the definition of is is.
