16 is not a young girl. In some states it is age of consent/marriage age.
Historically she’d gave already been married.

I’m a girl, S.A.M. I was abused as a young teen too. Yes, I do feel it’s wrong for adult females to have sex with underaged teens.
Yes, I understand life used to be shorter and marriageable age has gone as young as 9 in history, and 15 just three generations ago. My grandmother married at 16. Nevertheless, our line in the sand is 18 and I’m ok with that. The more years for the teens to understand how psychologically unfair the age difference is.
Note that your historical argument doesn’t go both ways. It wasn’t ok in 1875 for Mrs. Jones to dally with young teen Thomas Smith. In some places she’d be in prison or even lose her life. She’d lose her husband and standing in society and would only have a life among an underclass.
Your argument only makes sense in a fully patriarchal society with women having little to no rights. It is not ok for adults to have sex with underaged teens. No matter how fun it looks to either side. No harm comes from waiting until the teen is old enough for some general knowledge of sexual mores and emotional entanglements, as well as understanding the bonds of marriage and what it means when a married adult wants to screw you in high (or middle) school. It doesn’t mean what the kid thinks it means.
