Don’t be so pedantic. Republics and democracies both have the same problem this guy is discussing. If you pretend he is saying “republic” it will mean the same thing.

When someone cannot use the correct language to describe a situation, then they are being deceptive, deliberately or in ignorance. Like saying centimeters when you need to use inches - both are measures of distance so what’s the harm?
