It was explained to me that Hollywood is full of actors who are tens, and directors/ producers who are ones.

The predation includes homosexuals and the story goes around that many macho leading men had to submit to this. The names I was told are very surprising.

I met a late age actress whose career ended fairly young. She was married and refused to have sex with a powerful producer who told her she’d never work again. She appears in a James Bond film, but he had her voice replaced with another actress and took her name off the credits.

The reality of Hollywood is this:

1) There are a huge number of pretty girls with huge egos, who go there expecting to be "discovered", if they are only given a chance.

2) For every small part, there are a hundred girls who could be cast in it, and it will not make a damn bit of difference to the movie's success who gets picked.

3) If it doesn't much matter which pretty girl gets cast in a given bit part, then the girl who gets the part will be the girl who is best at sexually satisfying the person(s) making the decision.

4) This applies to pretty boys too.

IIRC, Cindy Morgan of Caddyshack fame experienced a similar fate. She had a nude scene in the movie and big shots flew to Florida to be there when it happened. When the day came she insisted on a closed set--just herself, the cameraman, the director, and fellow actor Chevy Chase.

Well, the big shots from New York and Hollywood were indignant. THEY were the ones who called the shots, not a nobody engenue whose only previous acting work was a tv commercial for deodorant soap! They would fix her.

The planned roll out of Miss Morgan's career didn't happen. Sure, she appeared in a supporting roll on a short lived tv show and one other feature film that did poorly at the box office (but gained a cult following) but that was it.

For years I wondered about wonderful actors who appeared in one or two films and then were gone. Now, I think I know why.
