I saw that movie she won an Oscar for and hated the movie. I think she’s great in interviews, but her movies are not great regardless of her acting.
She seems to be attracted to edgy roles in which the girl is flawed, an underdog and a fighter. She does not play the conventional princess and sweetheart roles. Watch Winter’s Bone. It was her breakout movie and she was still a teenager when it filmed. She pretty much set the all-time standard for “tough teenage girl overcoming adversity,” which ought to be an Oscar category.
