Interesting how the land/most of the land, of what is now Arlington Cemetery, once belonged to the Robert E Lee family.

Arlington was the family home of Mary Custis, Lee's wife and the Grand daughter of Martha Washington. Mrs. Lee inherited Arlington House from her father after he died in 1857.

And, the government turned it into a cemetery, so that Gen Lee could ‘look at the graves of the fallen’...an attempted slight, to the General.
