I had a job, car, checking account and girlfriend at the age of 16 (1968). My grades were nothing to write home about but I got an "A" in Boy's Home Economics since males weren't allowed in the girls class. It was a quarter of sewing and a quarter of cooking.
After graduation in 1970 I was pumping gas and fixing tires at an Alaskan truck stop 1000 miles from home and loving it.
