Always about something - anything - other than Christ.
...
Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
- Apostle John, at the end of his life.

Finally! A concrete example of the validity of superstition!

Looks like a transmission leak or someone dropped their Starbucks and a midget on a unicycle rode thru it.

meh...still, the faithful will gather and say a public rosary. That’s a powerful sacramental in the church.

Nope, not seeing it. An oil leak? A road patch? Someone spilled their purple drank?

According to some Catholics Mary provided an image of herself to Juan Diego which has been preserved. The stain vaguely resembles that image.

Scoff at an effigy but welcome an image of a crucifix in a jar of urine.
Someday we shall have to pay the price for this blasphemy.

ThinkGeek.com sells a toaster that will burn the image of a Death Star on your toast.

The publisher doesn’t know what “effigy” means.

Can you imagine God on His throne looking down on His creation who are worshipping a stain on a sidewalk?
Eyerolls or brimstone?

No, LOL, I guess not. But at least it’s a GOLDEN calf: arguably more seductive than a sidewalk stain. :)

A few years ago, I was going to use a chunk of summer sausage to create an image of Mary on my shower wall and let it mold for a few days. Figured I could make lots of money.
Even when I was wrapped up in Catholic ideology I thought this stuff was idolatry.
