She is meeting guys online and having unprotected sex and hasn’t had a chance to have children? Seems fairly clear to me she has had plenty of chances.

She meant to say, "I hadn't even gotten around to having children yet" or, "I was so busy doing other things in the past ten years - sowing my wild oats, maturing, getting my life together, etc. - that my 'window of opportunity' was nearing closure - and then this comes along, dashing my diminishing hopes into smithereens."
I wouldn't fault her for phrasing it the way she did - humans are rarely able to summon up the courage and honesty to "fess up" and state the bald (unflattering) truth.
