MEMPHIS, Tenn. Memphis police are searching for a Mid-South couple who stole an elderly woman's groceries, then laughed as they walked away.
Sylvia Crump purchased over $80 worth of groceries at Kroger at Poplar and Cleveland on Thursday afternoon.
As she walked out of the store she says she left her cart near a security guard and waited for her ride in the entry way.
"The security guard had to go to the restroom and I turned my back, and next thing I know, the grocery cart and everything was gone," she said.
When the manager and police reviewed the stores footage they saw a man add his grocery bags to Crump`s cart. A woman even followed his lead as they exchanged smiles.
"I had a few dollars left to pay my utility bills and that`s it," Crump said.
Crump says she is on a fixed income. She`s had many heath issues including cancer, causing her to lose her eye.
She says she tries to make it to the store when she can, but she just doesn't have much money to spend.
"It's the holidays, it's the only money I have for Christmas so hey, what am i going to do now?"
Luckily for her, Kroger gave her a $100 gift card to buy what she needs.
She says it will replace the tangible items but wants the thieves to know what they did is not right.
"You ain't going to be blessed. They're not going to be blessed. They got to repay for what they do. Whatever you do wrong, you shall repay it. Not now, later."

Why not? Oh, you already know the answer...
Yep
That’s their privilege.
Kroger did a good deed for the old lady.
Memphis was a big clue.
Heck with a gift card! She must have had her receipt unless she put it in one of the grocery bags which I often do. They should have reimbursed her 100% for the bags of groceries PLUS a gift card and more than one for $100.
Nice gesture by Kroger. I’d like to think I’d have intervened but over groceries it’s not worth possibly getting shot by a couple of dirtbags.
Seriously, what kind of scumbag would you have to be to do that? Guess there weren’t any wheelchair-bound or blind people nearby to target.
I work a couple of blocks from there. It’s a shithole as Trump would say
And the gloating over it, as if they needed to emphasize that they’re sociopathic.
I stopped going to Memphis years ago. Used to love Oak Court mall.
A guy & his drag queen girlfriend?
Memphis is a hell hole. Full of ferals.
I'm going to tell you it's very cultured.
true ... and each and every day in these United States of America, many someones are hacked to death ...
It's a grocery story, not a jewelry store.
Sad time is many parts of urban America.
The grocery stores / strip malls in Canoga Park and Chatsworth, Calif. have security guards. Makes you feel uneasy when you stop by to shop. You wonder why they need them.
Another Black-on-Black crime.....
It says what it say. Those folks have God coming after them or the Bible is a lie.
That the grocery store employs a security guard already tells me what kind of neighborhood its in.
