Former FBI Director James Comey, speaking to an appreciative audience in New York on Sunday, told NBC's Nicole Wallace that he sent two FBI agents to visit then-National Security Adviser Mike Flynn at the White House on January 24, 2017, because he figured he could get away with it.
Wallace asked Comey: "You look at this White House now, and it's hard to imagine two FBI agents ending up in the State room. How did that happen?"
"I sent them," Comey replied. The audience laughed, and Comey continued:
Something we've -- I probably wouldn't have done or maybe gotten away with in a more organized investigation -- a more organized administration. In the George W. Bush administration, for example, or the Obama administration
The protocol, two men that all of us perhaps have increased appreciation for over the last two years. (The audience applauded.)
And in both those administrations there was process.
And so we placed a call to Flynn, said, hey, we're sending a couple of guys over. Hope you'll talk to them. He said, sure. Nobody else was there. They interviewed him in a conference room in the Situation Room, and he lied to them. And that's what he's now pled guilty to.
What did he think they were coming over there for? Wallace asked Comey.
I don't think he knew, Comey replied. I know we didn't tell him.

I just read that. How long is this defiance by the DOJ and FBI going to be allowed to continue? Until they win?
Hannity played the Comey comments yesterday. clearly he feels he can say what he likes with impunity.
lock him up. lock up Rosenstein and Mueller.
exonerate anyone they have targeted.
Thanks!
What I don’t understand is how this is happening so openly. It’s as if we are all rushing towards the cliff, know that the cliff is there and what the outcome will be, yet we run in that direction regardless.
I have (had) a lot of respect for FBI agents. In the LEO community, although they were sometimes the butt of jokes, they were highly thought of. I just cannot believe that they are willing participants in this bloodless coup of our government.
I can understand the hierarchy of the Bureau. Like municipal and sheriff’s offices, the politics run rampant. Local police executives, (chief’s; deputy chief’s) serve at the pleasure of the local governing authority. Sheriff’s are duly elected and their departments are overrun with the proverbial butt-kissing political hack, (think Broward County). But below that, the troops are pretty solid.
Since there is an avenue for Federal employees (IG) to report abuse, I just cannot believe we’ve come to the point where everyone is going along with this.
I have my fingers crossed that Judge Sullivan will be the spark that lights the fire. He’s a Federal Judge who ORDERED the production of documents to which he is entitled. Not redacted, “here’s what I’m willing to give you” BS, but the actual document associated with the case. This Judge gave Mueller a smack-down once before, I don’t think he’d hesitate to do it again.
Are we past the point of no return in this republic? For our sake, I hope not.
Comey comes across as a total jerk.
There's a sound reason for that.
LOL - good one - yeah BECAUSE he’s a total jerk...
I figured it was something like that. These guys probably figured it was part of vetting for White House employment or some other reason. They had no reason to suspect that they were being targeted in a sting operation or I’m sure they would have lawyered up.
