CBS paid Eliza Dushku $9.5 million after she accused "Bull" star Michael Weatherly of harassment

Eliza Dushku was written off CBS' "Bull" after she confronted Michael Weatherly about his behavior, according to a new report in the New York Times.

The Times said when Dushku appeared on "Bull" last year, there were "well-developed plans" to make her a full-time cast member, but those plans allegedly ended after she came forward with allegations against the show's star.

Dushku played a lawyer alongside Weatherly for just three episodes in Season 1. According to a draft report from lawyers hired by CBS' board to investigate the company's culture and sexual misconduct allegations and reviewed by the Times, Dushku was written off the show within days of confronting Weatherly about behavior that made her uncomfortable. Among the allegations: he told "a rape joke," and said in "front of the cast and crew" that he "would bend her over his leg and spank her."

In another alleged incident on set, Dushku held up three fingers during a scene. She allegedly told investigators, Weatherly suggested she wanted a threesome with him and another male cast member.

After being written off the show, Dushku entered mediation with CBS. According to the Times, that's when a lawyer for CBS handed over outtakes from "Bull" in belief it would help their case, but it allegedly backfired. The Times reports "the outtakes were a goldmine" that actually captured some of the harassment.

...

The network agreed this year to pay Dushku a confidential settlement of $9.5 million, roughly the amount she would have earned as a series regular.

Fully agree, sometimes our fellow Freepers forget to think it through first or do a LITTLE research.

Needs to tone up those appendages. Yoga might work.

After "True Lies"? She should have stayed away from Hollywood after "True Lies".

I have a hard time understanding how any actress or model — who regularly poses in skimpy clothed or nude photos — can even remotely turn around and claim sexual harassment when someone makes lewd comments. Couldn’t it be considered sexual harassment to flaunt yourself half-clothed in front of men?

Take a look at everything she acted in after True Lies, she’s been a VERY active performer. Movies, TV and Video Game work. No 12-year old makes that decision, her parents should be questioned about that. You’re coming off a major role in the biggest grossing movie of that time and you walk away? Would you ask the 12-year old choir boy molested by the Priest to leave the Church? No. You punish the criminal, not the victim.

What a gross comment, she was asking for it, right? You laugh because you will never, in your whole life make that much money, more likely. Do you have any info we do not know about here? Or does the sight of women cause you to lose your ability to reason? My apologies if you are a Muslim - but your views are not welcome in this country and century.

The Victorian Era ended some time ago. Half-clothed is a lot more than the typical one piece bathing suit. Yeesh.

Make sure you never go to the beach without trousers and a long sleeve shirt unless you want to invite some lesbian couple to whistle at you.

Try reading the article - she complained and was blackballed. No, the men were their to do a job, if they cannot handle it, get a different job. Are you making the ‘sexual emergency’ defense? Please reflect.

I found that picture to trigger the belief that in approving and issuing same she is sexually harassing me.

It’s easy to blame someone else and her parents certainly are culpable. However, at age 18 she could have walked away. She CHOSE to stay, knowing what Hollywood is, AND she posed for provocative pics. Others are at fault too BUT....she also made informed choices and chose to swim in that shark tank.

No, payment to keep people quiet is not against the law. Happens all the time and is usually covered by an NDA.

What’s your point?

Something bad happened to her at 12 so therefore no male can ever make jokes around her again without having to pay for it? Are males supposed to research the lives of every female they come in contact with, now, just to make sure they’re not saying something that won’t offend someone?

“No, payment to keep people quiet is not against the law.”

Arguably, the payment was to coverup a federal crime - sexual harassment in the workplace.

I hope you realize I'm drawing attention to the disparate way CBS reports about confidential settlements by businessman Trump and confidential settlements by itself.

Anyone who suggests that joking around onset is really “harassment” has likely never been in even a summer stock production. If you have EVER been in a serious acting endeavor you know that it means 10-15-hour days spent with the other actors trying to build camaraderie as well as chemistry. People tel jokes that are dumb, bad and sexual all of the time not because they mean them seriously but, honestly, because it cuts off the boredom of the search for the right scene or the right shot. If anyone’s “offense” at sexual jokes, even boorish ones, is harassment worth $10 million then literally every production in Hollywood will have to shut down and Bill Clinton will have to retroactively go to jail for getting a blowie from a 22-year-old intern in the Oval Office.

Why, she looks pure as the driven snow.

Now, who would want to tell a dirty joke around that virginal looking nun.

Suddenly, boorish behavior becomes HARRASSMENT.

I hope the hateful CBS gets its money back.
