Bitter Pill: Something unpleasant or hurtful that is hard to accept. A bitter pill to swallow is a truth that people do not want to face but one that cannot be avoided. Most often, a bitter pill to swallow is information that people do not want to know because it hurts their pride or feelings.
Since qou (falsely) believe that all peeps MUST be taking one of two pills, Which drug do you take?
I’d suggest that your HS takes the same drug.
I think there are AA like organizations that can help wean both of you back to sobriety.
My favorite saying, one of them, is: The Truth Shall Set You Free But First It Will Piss You Off.
Think about it. It’s very frequently true.
