For years I’ve had a theory that Rush saved Apple. Or at least gave them breathing room so they could bounce back from extinction.
Apple was on the ropes 1989 - 1992 or so. MS was kicking their butts and there was talk of bankruptcy.
Here comes Rush with his audience of 20,000,000, extolling the excellence of Apple computers (long before the ipod or iPhone). He was an enthusiastic, exceedingly happy customer and he let everyone listening know it. Often. In detail.
That kind of relentless, regular free publicity to such a large and loyal audience had a profoundly positive effect on Apple.
Soon, Apple came roaring back under a recently rehired Steve Jobs and they’ve never looked back.

No, Steve Jobs saved Apple. He along with Woz created a great company. Wozniac was the techie genius, but Jobs was the mastermind/genius behind the company. He realized early on that making complex technology simple for the average user to access and understand was the key. When the board voted him out they made a huge mistake and when he was brought back is when they started their unstoppable climb to where they are today.
While I think that Steve Jobs was a horrible human being and he was pretty much a lefty, he never let his politics interfere with running his company. I think he will go down as one of the most brilliant innovators of this era and it's a shame that he was taken from us much too early.

Microsoft actually saved Apple by making a $150,000,000 investment in them back in 1997. (Source Link) and I don't think Rush had much if anything to do with it.
