P.J. Soles was on C2CAM a while back. Probably for the 25th anni of "Halloween". She went to a dual casting call, both "Halloween" and "Star Wars" were looking. Carpenter remembered her from something, and told the SW people he wanted her, and since SW was looking for tall storm troopers, it was "No problem".
