Actually he and his wife had a family policy. Both out-of-pockets needed to be met before the policy covered anything; so, $20,000. It was ridiculous, but there it was in the fine print. Essentially, the policy was worthless except under a narrow and unlikely set of circumstances.

OK, well high deductibles are a feature of the affordable ACA plans. I have a high deductible HSA plan. My contributions to the HSA will cover the deductible if I get sick, otherwise they roll over to next year. So, i am good with that. My problem is with the subsidies. If you make less than 4X poverty level, you get a very generous subsidy. You make one buck over that, they disappear entirely and you get a $10k bill from the IRS. A lot of small operators get burned by that and the MSM has nothing to say about it because you can’t speak ill of King Barack.
