Tone deaf normalcy bias marginalizing a progressive scientist NGO does not negate the FACT that the adults in the room (Military, DHS, Power plant industry) that run things like national security and critical infrastructure are accelerating public awareness, and planning for addressing this existential threat to our nation and citizenry...

Is this good enough for you?

"Is this good enough for you?"

No. I don't trust radical leftists who cling to their positions in government. Quite a few engineers have written better papers describing the more likely effects of electromagnetic pulses without the hysteria.

From the article: "Citing figures from the Union of Concerned Scientists, the report..." The LeMay Papers document also cites the UCS.

Union of Concerned Scientists
Wikipedia
[Excerpts:]
The UCS membership includes many private citizens in addition to professional scientists. Anne Kapuscinski, Sherman Fairchild distinguished professor of sustainability science in the Environmental Studies Program at Dartmouth College, currently chairs the UCS Board of Directors, having replaced James J. McCarthy,...
Issue stances
The UCS supports...the enactment of state laws to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from cars and trucks, deep reductions in greenhouse gas emissions in the United States, as well as national and international action to combat climate change...The UCS supports a national renewable energy standard which would require utilities to produce a certain percentage of their energy from sources such as wind power, solar energy...The UCS has also endorsed the Forests Now Declaration, which calls for new market based mechanism to protect forests, as the group has recognised the importance of curbing deforestation to tackle climate change.[15] The group also supports governmental incentives for people who want to preserve undeveloped land instead of selling it to developers,...They also oppose the use of space weapons, and work on reducing the number of nuclear weapons around the world.

"One Second After" was propaganda devised to provoke idiots to push against needed U.S. Defense measures. So was the movie, "The Day After."

Granted, some parts of the country will do much better than others after a nuclear exchange. I've seen the cultural differences and positions between populations of some regions and others.

One more thing. The more we shy away from building up our defense forces, the sooner we'll see a nuclear exchange.
