I would offer this observation about Murphy Brown-Revamped...having seen maybe six clips from the season...it simply wasn’t funny.
It was like you fired comedy writers, and hired political hacks to write some slant-story and throw six actors in the middle of some political dialog. Yeah...a 2018 political soap opera than an actual comedy show.
I think the crews on the set knew by the 3rd episode that it was doomed. Probably the same feeling on the new Magnum PI set as well. I think the production idiots in Hollywood are burned out and can’t create anything new and fresh.
I watched mere seconds of the new Magnum and turned it off. Knew something wasn’t right about the star and then I read on FR a few days ago that he’s gay. Well, there it is. It’s no wonder it’s being cancelled.
Glad to see Rosanne without Rosanne is also being cancelled. Murphy Brown was doomed before it left the cutting room floor. Hollyweird just can’t produce comedy anymore.
I think the chick who plays Higgins is actually taller than the dude who plays Magnum. Always looks like he’s standing on a box when they are filmed together. It’s mildly entertaining, as long as one avoids comparisons to the original.
THis doesn’t really make sense until you realize that it’s all to sell advertising. They’re not in the business of making anything funny or entertaining, that’s a rarity, like The Honeymooners or even Rosanne’s show.
It’s about selling advertising. Nothing more or nothing else.
IOWs Do you:
a. Launch a show with the idea of luring in advertising?
b. Launch a show with the idea of making it quality entertaining first, and if it sells second?
