I have never taken a flu shot and I’m not starting now.

I have always felt that way since I saw my mother regularly get the shot and get sick.
However I am over 80 now and am threatened by 2 potential fatal ailments. I just don't think I can fight off the flu, so I got my first shot about 3 years ago and had no side effects

. This year a friend got the senior flu shot and was confined to bed the next day because of a reaction. I got that senior flu shot about a month ago and had no adverse effects.

My opinion is if you feel up to fighting off the flu I would skip the shot, but if you feel the flu might bring you down because of other health issues , you might consider taking a chance and get a flu shot. - Tom

1918 Flu epidemic. We should all be afraid.

Pneumonia and the Flu is no laughing matter especially for older folks. If you are a gentlemen and still shake people’s hands at church, your are just playing with fire.

For people averse to getting a flu shot, there is a new flu drug (Xofluza - first flu drug approved in over 20 years) that can be effective when taken within first 48 hours of symptoms.

FDA Approves Xofluza for Flu treatment
