Spaceships carry oxygen in the form of liquid oxygen or other oxiders. This causes a burning reaction in a chamber. The force is vented outside which moves the ship.
Look, it's not that hard. It's not like spaceships burn wood in an oxygen environment or gasoline. It's called "rocket fuel" for a reason...the reason is that it was designed to burn without oxygen being present in the atmosphere.
