Neat pics. That car is in amazing shape. Any others showing what’s under the hood?
“Okay so you were in the passenger seat... I know what I did and what the car did. Your wrong on both accounts. Youve never down shifted to increase RPM?”
I know what happens when you downshift forcing the engine to over-rev.
YOU DONT ACCELERATE. YOU GET ENGINE BRAKING.
Down-shifting to 2nd @ 100 mph nets you 8000+ rpm. How long did you stay on it in 2nd before up-shifting ...
And how much did you slow down?
“I got into a race with a 280Z on I-10 just west of Phoenix in 1981. I was coming up on 100 mph in 4th”
Why were you in 4th?
“That Z never had a chance...”
Given the 100 hp advantage I would agree.
” So I slammed it down into 2nd, tached up,”
Up from 8000+ rpm? What rpm did you up-shift?
My first car was a ‘67 Mustang with a ‘68 engine. The previous owner drove it three miles with the oil light on. When he left work he found the engine seized solid. About that time my dad came out from work and offered him 50 bucks. He took it.
About a split second, then 3rd all the up, and then back to 4th. I didn’t slow down in that split second that was in anyway noticeable.
I didn’t know that I was in a serious race until I saw her gaining on me. By then she was going through her gears and passed me.
“then 3rd all the up, and then back to 4th”
You must have slowed down! Redline in 3rd is 95 mph and you said you were doing 100 before shifting to 2nd?
You got me. I forgot you were deiving my car that night. It was all a dream.
You should have never started digging this hole hou are in.
Eat shit.
“Eat shit.”
Tell me again how you ‘up-tacked in 2nd at greater than 100 mph when red-line IN THIRD is 95 mph ...
“Eat shit.”
You downshifted to 2nd at 100 mph. Shifted into third at redline and into 4th at readline.
Redline in 3rd is 95 mph. That means you slowed from 100 to 95 ...
