More than half the women who were murdered worldwide last year were killed by their partners or family members, making home the most dangerous place for a woman, a new UN study said Sunday.
In statistics released on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime calculated that of a total 87,000 female homicide cases worldwide in 2017, some 50,000 or 58 percent - were committed by the victims intimate partners or family members.
Around 30,000, or 34 percent, were committed by intimate partners alone.
This amounts to some six women being killed every hour by people they know, the Vienna-based body said.
The vast majority around 80 percent of homicide victims worldwide were men, but women continue to pay the highest price as a result of gender inequality, discrimination and negative stereotypes, said UNODC chief Yury Fedotov.
They are also the most likely to be killed by intimate partners and family making the home the most dangerous place for a woman, he said.
The fact that women continue to be affected by this type of violence to a greater degree than men is indicative of an imbalance in power relations between women and men inside the domestic sphere.

How many of those killed were mothers-in-law?
Unless the stats are broken down by "women living with their husband and father of the child" vs "women living with a boyfriend who is the father of the child" or "women living with a boyfriend not related to the child" or "living with a female sex partner not related to the child" or "single adult woman living with the child", the stat you cited is meaningless. And as above, we haven't even considered religion, income or race.
Im missing your point
Please feel free to be more precise
I agree an adult in the home not related by blood to the child is a bigger threat than a blood relative
Regardless their sex
Yes
The definition of “home” and “family” have become very distorted by some 40 to 60% of children being raised in those alternate living arrangements I mentioned other than “mom, dad and their biological children living together in one home”meanwhile females probably remain the majority of primary caregivers or custodial parents to children, so it stands to reason more children would die under the care of women just from greater exposure to women; I’m guessing more likely from co-habiting, abandoned or otherwise unmarried mothers.
Certainly there have been notable exceptions, such as mentally ill married women— I’m thinking of that Yates woman who drowned all five of her kids while her husband was at work. But she had a clear diagnosis of mental illness, yet her husband and family members left her to cope alone with five kids. So the exception there is her unique circumstances.
Because greatly more children are raised by women than by men, more children are likely to die at the hands of women (your point); but (I’m guessing here) the most unlikely group to do that would be relatively normal women who are married to the biological father who also lives in the home.
My point is that the social disorder and marxist trashing of marriage is the real villain against children.
