It’s just a term. “Punk” has no negative connotation, at least not years after the term Steampunk was coined.

These are people engaging in a harmless hobby, that takes some real skill and talent to put together these outfits. Many of those outfits are stunning to look at, and pay homage (albiet with a little fantasy tossed-in) to a past era.

Certainly far more interesting to observe than a sports bar full of fat middle age dudes in jerseys and crap “official” gear from some sports team.

Eh. I don’t see the harm in it. I would rather see this kind of thing than young people dressing in ghetto gear, or spandex with hooves on their hands and a unicorn horn on their heads...

Thank you!
I participate in reenactments, from a love of history plus love for beautiful clothes. People my age usually dress shabby; some look like they crawled out of a grave. Give me a tight-waisted Victorian gown with a bustle and a bonnet. A slinky 1930's dress or a tailored Edwardian or an equestrian ensemble or a 1940's romper. I've got a great collection of vintage clothing, built over the past ten years, and my only regret is that there aren't enough places to go in them.
