Believe me, getting old isn’t a lifestyle choice. Plus, I pay Medicare premiums and paid into Social Security when you were most likely in diapers.

I am 75 and still living paycheck to paycheck. 1986-2012 the cost of government was 43-47% of my gross. It changed in 2012 because my personal economy collapsed that year and my gross has been much smaller since. But I made life choices that put me in my current state. At the current rate, I will not collect what I have paid in unless I live to be 113 or so. And that doesn’t count interest on what I have paid in.

But lifestyle choices are relative. People who choose alcohol, drugs, promiscuos sex, etc as a lifestyle cost the taxpayer far more than us “ordinary geezers”.
