Speaking of strange circumstances: When Kennedy was shot I was a 31 year old male who spent a lot of time on a Seattle rifle range.

The first rifle shown on TV as the murder weapon was definitely an Argentine Mauser. This rifle was issued to the Argentine Army and was slightly different than the German Army Mauser.

The next rifle shown was a piece of junk called an Italian Carcano.

The Argentine Mauser seemed to vanish as the day went on. My shooting buddy and I decided that “the fix is on.”

After that America was never the same. Never.

Thanks for that info. I was 11 just returned from 6th grade recess. The shot changed everything. Never trusted govt again. Then watched Ozwald shot on live TV. How did Ruby get in that underground parking lot? Body not turned over in autopsy????

A friend relocated to Plano. On my first business trip many years ago to Dallas we met for dinner and I asked we dime near the “grassy knoll”. We walked there after dinner. It was so small. Not at all what I expected.

Interesting on the switch. I recall watching TV news live on 9/11 as the twin towers burned. One of the anchors in the studio was talking about things with previous shot footage showing in the background. “Oh no. This just in - one of the towers has collapsed! One of the towers has collapsed! Go live- go live!”

“Sandra - we've just heard that one of the towers has collapsed!”

“Um - no John, they are still there (burning towers in the background)...”

It was another 5 minutes or more when the first one did collapse. I have no idea what that was about. Perhaps a warning that one of the towers may collapse so clear the area got turned into “one of the towers has collapsed”.

I've always wondered if the silent period on the Nixon Tapes was about the assassination. Just prior to the erasure Nixon says something like “This mess could lead to the whole Cuban thing.” To go with the “tramps” conspiracy.

And then Nixon naming Ford as his VP (Ford was on the Warren Committee - maybe the head of it??).

Not that Nixon would have been involved in the hit - but I could see him trying to cover it up. Just as he tried to prevent the release of “The Pentagon” papers which slammed Kennedy's and Johnson's handling of the war. If the assassination was a conspiracy, he didn't want that to lead to a weakened America.
