From what I can see, these seem like reasonable rules for conducting press conferences given the proliferation of the press corps and other changes since press conferences were instituted. An alternative which has been suggested, and which I’m sure the self-described ‘journalists’ of the White House Press Corps would hate, would be to end the practice of press conferences altogether, have the Presidential spokespersons hand out written press releases, and take no questions. The POTUS could grant personal interviews to selected reporters, or not, at his discretion. And the whole concept of a White House Press Corps, with special passes and special access to the White House Grounds, and so on, could just go away if they do not behave themselves.

I agree. Do away with the White House Press Corps entirely! It’s like inviting the enemy to dinner. Why bother?

Otherwise, I want MY hard pass. What am I, chopped liver?

No more Mr. Nice Guy, I say. Doesn’t work.

This would mean an end to the carting around on AF1 these rabid dogs of DC. Why should the taxpayers be responsible for their cost of freighting? Mr. President, put the cage on the roof of your plane and ride in peace!

They are precisely the convention which ruled the day until the corporate media decided to go all #Resistance.

If journos would hate it, it must be good for us.

It is a step towards asserting that elected government officials are in charge, not the Media.

We have been living in a Mediacracy for at least 50 years.

The Media chose what candidates were acceptable, what Supreme Court justices were acceptable, what issues were important, what was a scandal, and what was not.

The Media controlled most of the information flow of the nation.

They acted as one because they shared the same Progressive ideology, which developed into a group think.

The NYTs, the Washington Post, AP, and a few other set the ideological tone.

By this means, the Media controlled the nation by controlling most of the people in the government.

That era is ending. President Trump is showing the way.
