Election fraud scheme on L.A.'s skid row fake names for cigarettes and cash

A forged signature swapped for $1 — or sometimes a cigarette.

The crude exchange played out hundreds of times on L.A.’s skid row during the 2016 election cycle and again this year, prosecutors said Tuesday as they announced criminal charges against nine people accused in a fraud scheme.

Using cash and cigarettes as lures, the defendants approached homeless people on skid row and asked them to forge signatures on state ballot measure petitions and voter registration forms, the district attorney’s office said. The defendants — some of whom were scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday — face several criminal charges, including circulating a petition with fake names, voter fraud and registering a fictitious person.

The charges, which were filed three weeks ago but made public Tuesday, followed a Los Angeles Police Department crackdown on suspected election fraud on skid row earlier in the year.

How do you produce evidence? A homeless persons sworn testimony counts in court. What if they’re lying. Ain’t nothing him.

Someone will have to give me a clue as to why the Democrats would need to use election fraud on any state-wide ballot measure or any state wide election?

The Dims have Kalifornistan tide up. Why bother with election fraud?

Maybe it might to worth it in a local race but not state-wide.

They face up to 4-6 years in jail. Chances are they won’t do any time. Jails are filled. It’s still a felony.

They need to be sued for violating our civil rights. Criminally they will get a slap on the wrist but they need to pay bucu bucks for lawyers.

How do you think they “flipped” seats in the few Republican districts left.

Those were local races in inland districts and not in LA.

Some articles blame the tax cut bill that also cut the State and Local tax deduction for the loss of those races.

But like I said voter fraud in local races might be worth it but not state wide races in California. The Dim have those tied up.

election fraud getting initiatives (60-300K sigs required) (or candidates) on the ballot by paying anywhere from $1 to $6/per name, to the name collectors (those who get you to sign petitions outside the grocery stores, etc). Characters who then engaged in identity theft and attempted election tampering by getting homeless to sign false names to push an initiative onto the ballot, and/or voter reg forms someone else would use to vote for said initiative and/or candidate. Allegedly. The article says LA County says they still compare signatures, but does worry such tactics would compromise people’s faith in the election process. Ya think?!

How are you so sure that the DemonRATs have CA tied up?

Vote fraud has been an integral component of the CA election process for decades. We do not and cannot know what the will of the voters is in this environment.

I am believer in the axiom “They can only cheat if it is close”

Elections in California have not been close, also there have been pockets of Republican dominated districts in California.
