Reminds me of when the Menedez Brothers trial ended in a hung jury because “the poor boys are orphans”.
Good analogy. I was in court last week and watched the judge rip into a guy who tested positive for meth, and then tried to play the parent card to stay out of jail on a probation violation. The judge pointed out that this guy couldn’t be a good father while addicted and that his kid would be better off without him until he got clean. I don’t think a mother would have fared any better in front of this particular judge.
