After I read the book, I searched for more and did run into that interview with David McGowan on youtube. The interview barely scratches the surface. To anyone who consider themselves in any way a “product of the Sixties” I highly recommend the book. The sixties were not what we thought they were. Just as a teaser, most of us know that Jim Morrison’s father was an Admiral in the Navy, but how many realize that he was the Admiral of the fleet at the Gulf of Tonkin Incident which got us into the Vietnam War?
The times we live in are a “product of the sixties”.

Here is a photo of Jim Morrison with his dad in 1964 on his ship USS Bon Homme Richard. BTW, neither Morrison or his ship was involved in the Gulf of Tonkin incident that occurred on Aug 2 of that year.

Who knew that in three years, this kid would be a rock superstar and a counterculture hero.
