I’m a child of the 60’s and 60’s music is still the soundtrack of my life.I used to love the Doors but IMO their work hasn’t aged well.Give me the early Stones, the early Who,the Beatles (through Revolver and Rubber Soul),the early Byrds...among others.
“I used to love the Doors but IMO their work hasnt aged well”
I hold the opposite opinion.
I think Morrison Hotel and LA Woman are masterpieces in the genre. Holding up like the Beatles, Hendrix and the Stones.
The Who and the Byrds were mere also-rans even in their glory years.
Same for me except The Doors aren’t stale for me. They were in the late eighties and early nineties, but now I appreciate Morrison’s lyrics and have always had a soft spot for a rock and roll Hammond B3. I watched a documentary about ‘60’s Cali rock icons and how the big stars all grew up in one canyon above Malibu, and most of their fathers were hard core military big wigs, interesting stuff.
