FULL TITLE: 'Go home!': Residents in an upscale Tijuana neighborhood throw rocks at the migrant caravan and order them out of Mexico while US troops put MORE barbed wire up to stop hundreds arriving at the border from climbing the wall

Migrants travelling in a caravan from Central America were abused and had rocks thrown at them in a neighborhood in Tijuana as they reached the Mexican border.

A small group of residents in an upscale Tijuana neighborhood near the Mexican border confronted caravan migrants late on Wednesday, throwing stones and telling them to go back to their home countries.

'Get out of here,' around 20 people shouted at a camp of Hondurans near the border. 'We want you to return to your country. You are not welcome'.

Migrants shouted back and dozens of police officers had to create a blockade between them in a city known for welcoming both American tourists and thousands of immigrants every year.

A caravan of thousands of mostly Honduran migrants who are fleeing violence and poverty at home set off for the United States in mid-October, with the bulk of them still to arrive at the border. Other large bands of mostly Salvadorans have followed.

Trump has declared the caravans an invasion, and has sent some 5,800 troops to 'harden' the border, including with barbed wire.

In 2016 Mr. Mercat and I got off the ferry in Calais and had to drive past the “jungle” where thousands of Muslim migrants were living while trying to get from France to UK. Scary. Razor wire and spikes at least 15-20 feet high. So spike needed.

Can you imagine the media firestorm if this happened on OUR side of the border?

There is no way that these are the original “migrants” we heard so much about a few weeks ago.

Yes .... fueled mainly by Americans and other foreigners. Beachfront property everywhere is higher priced ... look at Malibu. But as Americans and other wealthy foreigners buy up Baja’s beachfronts, they are becoming “exclusive”... generally where moneyed citizens and travelers hang out.

In fact, Baja in general is becoming wealthy. Once, when I was younger, it was very hard to drive from San Diego down to the tip of Baja .... now there are very luxurious resorts and top tier fishing establishments from the top to the bottom of Mexico.

Wow. I had no idea. Things have changed a LOT there since my one and only trip to TJ in 1981. ;-)

I find it kind of shocking that Americans are actually leaving CA to live in the foreign country of Mexico, of all places. But I can imagine the beaches in Baja are beautiful.

Oh, I don’t think anyone is leaving. I think some people who can ... may buy or rent a home that theyy use a few weeks out of the year along with other homes they have.

From what I can see [not much] ... looks like condos or rentals. The beaches tooo nice and unspoiled, clear water, nice cliffs and not over developed yet.
