Thanks to Jim and John Robinson, the admin mods who've given me well deserved time outs (except once) and of course the most amazing Freepathon crew.
No greater place on earth exists for conservative thought and expression.
Because we reject group think and engage each other intellectually, we grow together. The opposite of the liberal hive mind.
When I got here in '98, I came via the dissolution of political forums where liberal / conservative hand to hand combat was the norm. The genius of FreeRepublic was it was the right idea at the right time.
I followed another current Freeper over from another forum. He was a lawyer who opened my eyes to the left which lead to my experienced statement in '97, "Liberals Lie About Everything All the Time".
At first, my vanities flowed like a river. My prior fisticuffs habits followed me over. Humblegunner's fingers would have cramped and his computer would have crashed trying to keep up.
I got learned up quick to the point I froze in place and just listened for a year. Then dipped a toe in here and there EARNING my way.
Back then Zots and Opus' resembled volcanic early molten earth.
There were and are so many great posts and posters.
Aside from the brilliant folks who swim these waters, the memory recall and senses of humor are beyond reproach. (http://www.freerepublic.com/~roscoekarns/)
Thanks everyone!
I joined at 32. Looking forward to a 30 year.

Good luck! FR likely won’t make another 10 years, let alone 30. As soon as the illegals hop the border fence unopposed, we’re screwed. The DEMs will do everything they can to kill of conservatives, while the GOP will be trying to figure out how to save the wealthy more on their taxes.
After being kicked out of Moscow in 98, I had “starsandstripesforever”, o on something close to that. However, even while on the site, because of military, stresses of life, and work environment rules, I have only been intermittently active. I lost that tag years ago, I believe. There have been times I wish I could retrieve it though.
There were times back then, when I had been so beat up physically and emotionally with the feds, I would go to freerepublic to unwind. The problem was, I would be so encouraged me or laugh so hard I would respond to a post sometimes having had no sleep for several days at a time. Some of it was laughable.
But there were, and are, some real slueth’s and blessed minds in here.
I will not say who, but I knew congressmen (plural) who were in here, or had their staff in here.
The Clinton fiasco sealed it for me.
As a college student, voting for the first time, I read everything available about the candidates. ‘Course in the late 70s there was little access to information. However, I realized that I did not identify as a democrat. Mind you, where I grew up, everyone around me was a democrat.
Took me awhile. But when I told Mama that I was not a democrat, she informed me that there had been an earthquake in Virginia. I said, no, Mama, I would’ve heard about it. Then she chuckled and told me it was all my dead relatives rolling over in their graves from Southwest Virginia to Richmond. BWAHAHAHA!!
Conservative? Think you meant GOPe-Lite.
Anyways - Sincere congrats on your 20 year anniversary...
Can you back that up or is your ulcer actin' up again?
Seriously. 20 years is a long time. Congrats to you - Happy you like this place...
So how did you come across FR back in 1997?
