Actually, no. The full story only came out a few years ago.
He was wounded in a crash with an oncoming army truck. He died several days later.
The driver of the truck had been driving drunk, and when Patton found out about it he refused to have the man charged. He said the man had made a mistake and shouldn’t suffer the rest of his life for it.
The story was never told until after the driver of the truck died. His son told the story.
Why believe facts when conspiracy theories are so much better!
I take no side in this debate; but why would the word of one man, the son of the drunk driver, be the sole arbiter of how Patton actually died?
