My father explained how they wrote their stories with little regard for the truth unless it was a truth they could use to their advantage. IE to increase their bottom line.

Well, CNN failed to broadcast the mobs storming the gates into Mexico, the bloodied faced of the seriously injured Mexican police and military, and the 'military age and fit' young men racing across Mexico toward the US.
