That looks like an heirloom, maybe from his mother. It may have been her most treasured possession: three beautiful diamonds, which can be easily updated into a more elegant setting. I would have been honored to receive such a ring.
I like it....but, as others say, depending upon financial situation I might say “Don’t spend too much”. I didn’t even have an engagement ring. Just wedding band...but, later the hub bought a nice “anniversary ring” that matches the band...when we had more moolah.

Funny...that looks almost exactly like my wife’s ring that she had redone after she got a ring with two diamonds from her mother...the engagement ring I gave her only had one rock! She took those two from her mother and put them on it...:)
Hmmm. Those hands holding it don’t make her look like any kind of physical prize...just saying.
