Somehow it’s working fine for me, now.
Good to be back..!
They may well be having scaling issues due to renewed interest.
Like I said, it’s never fully worked and I wasn’t the only one complaining about it for the first year. Maybe the app worked better when it was available. That was a raw deal when apple/google removed their app.
Meanwhile, it takes a pretty good team of devs to build something like gab and they never had that. IF they had done so and everything worked all the time, maybe more sane people would have joined and/or stayed and that would have helped drown out the BS content. Then, maybe, the apps wouldn’t have been removed, maybe.
They also changed the system a long time ago. At one time, people could get down voted into obscurity. But then people started ganging up on other people simply because they didn’t agree. They hadn’t posted anything nasty. It was just teenage drama. To help prevent that, gab changed it so that down voting, removed some points from the down voter.
Never could figure out the whole points thing either. I equate it to getting a star on your forehead in the first grade, for participation.
I understand the concept. It’s called “gamifying” and is supposed to increase participation. Companies use it these days too. Badges, stars, bs awards, faux certificates, employee of the month etc etc
Supposedly makes for better moral but I’ve always thought it was just to meant to help make people forget that they haven’t had a raise in forever, thereby saving the company a ton of money.
I wish them luck but no rules = anarchy. Social networks have always had a lot of teenage drama, even among adults. Gab seems more so.
I don’t think the Thomas Wictor on GAB is the same one on Twitter.
Am very familiar with the one on Twitter.
It had been 9 months since I posted anything on GAB. The interface is totally different now, I managed to post 1 comment and then it seems to have quit working. I also had trouble logging in the first time I tried today.
Will let the dust settle there.
I wonder if there is a way of letting them know. I didn’t see a “contact us” link.
Its a shame that places like this can get infested by white nationalist types. I have joined there, but some of the content is a real turn off, makes “normal” conservatives look bad.
I think Facebook has something like a "friend" request, where stuff won't show up unless you allow it.
